Currently in Dampier listening (once again) to the fab sounds of Ken OShea, this time at the yacht Club. Spent past week nearby in a little place called Point Samson, where we finally christened the fishing rod. Bream for dinner two nights! The history is quite amazing here. A heritage town nearby called Cossack was where the pearling industry started in 1860s even before Broome. All this side by side with the present day mining boom is pretty cool. Also I always thought the famous Sturts Desert Pea grew in the desert in the middle of Australia, but here I find it grows on the beach!
