Cute little Billy, a stray poodle, was wandering around Tsokkos Hotel in Protaras for days. After countless tourists complained about the situation, the hotel staff decided to take action. But they didn’t call any animal welfare organization, a dog pound or simply alert the local authorities, as any responsible citizen would do! Instead, two employees of the beach hotel started chasing the scared puppy around and eventually threw her into a cardboard crushing machine. The poor dog was rescued by a group of tourists who heard the dog’s piercing whimpers. She was taken to a veterinary clinic in Paralimni, where she is in a coma, fighting for her life. The upper management of the Tsokkos Hotels said that the behavior of the two employees was “inhumane and intolerable”, adding that the manager of the hotel was suspended, and the two other employees, fired. The hotel also offered to pay for the dog’s treatment. Too little, too late, given the fact that Billy’s condition is critical. The disturbing actions of the hotel employees simply cannot go unpunished. These people need to pay for what they did to this poor dog! We, the undersigned, demand a thorough investigation and penalty that fits the crime for all the people involved, starting with the employees and the hotel manager.
