Cutlers two interceptions came on a passes thrown to Martellus Bennett with defensive tackle Kyle Williams picking off the second. On the play, Cutler rolled right on a bootleg and threw back across his body to Williams. The play came on third-and-one with 8:01 remaining from the Buffalo 31. Cutler admitted immediately after the game that he should have thrown the ball away. Bears coach Marc Trestman could have helped out Cutler by calling a run in the short-yardage situation. After all, the Bears averaged 4.8 yards per attempt on the day running the ball.
