DACHSHUND RESCUE TEAM STANDARDS AND VIEWS DACHSHUND RESCUE TEAM believes in ethical and responsible rescue. We always have the best interest of our dogs as our first priority. DACHSHUND RESCUE TEAM understands that in rescue as in all endeavors, conflicts will arise. We will always make sure that whatever actions are taken are in the best interest of the dogs. Politics and egos have no place in rescue when lives are at stake. DACHSHUND RESCUE TEAM always follows humane rescue practices. Many independent rescuers find themselves in a position at one time or another where it is necessary to place a dog in a kennel or boarding facility. This is a short term option and should be used only as a temporary solution - days or weeks, not months. DACHSHUND RESCUE TEAM knows our limits and stick to them. We have accepted that there are limitations to how much we can do and understand that In order to be an effective rescuer, it is important to set realistic limits to avoid becoming overwhelmed. We will not dwell on the dogs that are beyond our ability and means to help, but rather, we will focus on the ones we can help. It does not matter whether we are saving one animal or hundreds - we are making a difference. DACHSHUND RESCUE TEAM always has a solid plan in place before taking on a dog, or group of dogs. DACHSHUND RESCUE TEAM always provides complete and timely medical care. All animals should be vetted, vaccinated, and treated for parasites immediately upon entering our rescue and before being placed in a foster home. DACHSHUND RESCUE TEAM believes that once a dog is rescued and in our care we are responsible for that dog . We always take our dogs back if something should go wrong . DACHSHUND RESCUE TEAM makes local rescue our first priority . We have established great relationships with a few select people and organizations with the same ideals and high standards as ours. We work with these organizations on a regular basis, locally, as well as in the states of California, Washington, and Oregon; as long as our standards are never compromised. DACHSHUND RESCUE TEAM does not believe in pre adopting dogs. We instead follow the practice of making sure that a dog is correctly matched up with an adopter. We do not participate nor believe in mass importing of dogs just to save their lives, unless we have determined that we can place all dogs in a safe and secure environment. We believe in the rights of the individual dog and work with that particular dogs needs to provide veterinary care and a temporary, loving foster home until the appropriate forever home can be identified.
