DAILY BREAD Jesus Goes Away From the Crowds to a Mountain Near Time of the Passover Feast John Chapt. 6 After Jesus spoke with the Jews, he crossed the Sea of Galilee; “And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.” John 6:2 KJV Jesus went up into a mountain with his disciples (possibly to get away for some quiet time with God the Father); and it was drawing close to the Passover (a feast of the Jews). My Bible notes indicate it was the 3’rd Passover in Jesus ministry. Passover This was a feast appointed by God for the Israelites to keep and remember; the LORD delivered them out of slavery and the bondage of Pharaoh. Just before their Exodus out of Egypt, God gave Moses command that each house was to perform a sacrifice of a lamb without blemish. The people were to place the blood of the lamb on the two side post, and upper door post of their dwellings. Thus when the death angel came to kill the first-born children and beast in Pharaoh’s house and among the Egyptians; the angel saw the blood over the door post of the Israelites, and passed over (did not enter there). This blood represented the blood of the Messiah (of Jesus), that would take away the sin of the world (He fulfilled this in His death at the cross). The death angel was sent against Pharaoh and the Egyptian’s, because they would not let God’s people (the Jews) go (wanted to keep them as slaves). Reference “OBSERVE the month of Abib, and keep the Passover unto the LORD thy God: for in the month of Abib the LORD thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night.” “Thou shalt therefore sacrifice the Passover unto the LORD thy God, of the flock and of the herd in the place which the Lord shall choose to place his name there.” “Thou shalt eat no leavened bread with it; seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread therewith, even the bread of affliction; for thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt in haste: that thou mayest remember the day when thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of thy life.” Deuteronomy 16:1-3 KJV “And Moses said, Thus saith the LORD, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt:” “And all the first-born in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first-born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the first-born of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the first-born of the beasts.” “And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was one like it, nor shall be like it any more.” Exodus 11:4-6 KJV To be cont… JESUS LOVES YOU AND HE IS COMING SOON!!!
