DAILY BREAD John Chapt. 7 Some Believe & Some Don’t Jesus did not walk in Judea (Jewry) because the Jews sought to kill him there. “Now the Jews feast of tabernacles was at hand.” John 7:2 KJV Feast of Tabernacles: a seven day feast unto the LORD (also referred to as the Feast of Booths). At the end of the feast (the next day, 8th day) they had Holy Convocation: they prepared an offering made by fire, unto the LORD. It is also called Feast of Booths, because the children of Israel stayed in makeshift huts or booths, when God brought them up out of Egypt. Jesus Rejected by His Brothers Jesus brothers rejected him, and suggested he go to the area that people desired to kill him (to prove himself). Basically, they did not believe Jesus was the Messiah, or that God did mighty miracles through Him. “Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is always ready.” “The world cannot hate you: but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.” “ Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto the feast; for my time is not yet full come.” John 7:6-8 KJV After his brothers went to the feast, Jesus went also (but not openly), The Jew’s looked for him to kill him. Some of the people believed in him, but others did not (no one spoke openly of him, for fear of the Jews). In the middle of the feast Jesus went into the Temple and taught. The Jews were surprised at his ability to read and understand God’s Word, when he had not been taught. “Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.” “If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.” “He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.” “Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law?
