DAILY CELEBRATION OF CHRIST, Friday, October 10, 2014 First Reading: Galatians 3:7-14 Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 111:1-6 (R.v. 8) Gospel Acclamation: John 12:31-32 Gospel Reading: Luke 11:15-26 Celebration of Christ: Jesus, the demon destroyer Message: Authority through Faith Our Lord Jesus Christ is the most powerful man on earth. When he was in the world God used him to make the impossible possible. He healed the sick and raised the dead. The most amazing thing he did was to engage in discussion with demon after which he will simply destroy them through a command. Those around him were surprised. They could not believe their eyes. They were wondering how he got this kind of power. Some of the people were even saying that “He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of demons.” While others who were trying to test him demanded for sigh from heaven. Clear conscience fears no accusation. Jesus was not discouraged by people’s envy and criticism. Rather he told them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste…” devil cannot cast out devil. Light and darkness has nothing in common. Child of God, the same God that used our Lord Jesus Christ to perform wonders in the life of people is the same God we are worshiping today. He is the same yesterday, today and forevermore. The psalmist says, “He keeps his covenant ever in mind.” (Psalm 111:5). He is a faithful God. Heaven and earth will pass away but his covenantal words will not pass away. We are God’s covenantal children. We can enter into covenant with God through Faith. In today’s first reading from Galatians 3:7 St. Paul wrote, “You see that it is men of faith who are the sons of Abraham. No matter the tribe or nation we come from, no matter our religious or cultural background, we are all justified through faith in Christ Jesus. Our authority in rooted through faith in Christ Jesus. With this authority we can do what our Lord Jesus Christ did. Just as he assures us in the gospel of Mark 16:16-17 that “He who believes will be saved.” Again, “These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons…” Child of God, as long as you are in covenant with Christ Jesus through faith, you have nothing to fear. Every attacking demon will be destroyed, in Jesus name. Every monitoring demon will be destroyed in Jesus name. No weapon fashioned against you shall prosper. It is your turn to shine and you must continue to shine, in Jesus name – Amen!
