DAILY ENCOUNTERS Date: Friday June 27th, 2014 Topic: True Prosperity and False Prosperity II Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth 3 John 2 Today’s Scripture Reading: Acts 20:35 True prosperity is more than having money. It is having a sound mind, having a wonderful marriage, being strong in your health and being a person of character and integrity. A truly prosperous person in the eyes of God is one who carries an overflow of God’s blessings in every area of their lives. That amount of blessings cannot be quantified in naira, dollars or pound sterling. The Bible says it is impossible to serve God and money. People serve money when their pursuit of it determines every decision they make. This is called materialism; or having a wrong relationship with material things. When you become consumed with thoughts of constantly having more and acquiring more material wealth so that you can indulge it on yourself, or when you get your security from money and material goods, you are serving money. This is wrong. False prosperity makes people look prosperous on the outside but they are empty within. Accumulating debt and buying things on credit in order to please others is not Gods best for your life. He wants you to be a lender and not a borrower because borrowing from others puts you in the position of being the servant of debt. True prosperity comes from having a solid relationship with God and trusting Him to meet every need you have in your life. He also wants you to have more than enough to share with others. As you walk in obedience to His Word, He will bless you with these things and more. When you are operating in the overflow in every area of your life, you are operating in true prosperity, and are fulfilling His plan for you to be a blessing to others. Prayer: Pray that God will make you a kingdom focused person God’s word to you: True prosperity is the prosperity of the soul.
