DAILYWORD JANUARY 31 Exo 30:10 And Aaron shall make reconciliation vpon the hornes of it once in a yere with the blood of the sinne offring in the day of reconciliation: once in the yeere shall hee make reconciliation vpon it throughout your generations: this is most holy vnto the LordThe fire of 30:7 and the blood of 30:10 teach that there can be no acceptable worship apart from Atonement. In the matter of Atonement, all worshippers stand on one common ground, and that is the Sacrifice of Christ. The word “Atonement” means, in the Hebrew Text, “a cover”; it is not the English word “at-one-ment.” “Now our sins may all be covered with the Precious Blood He shed” (Ps. 32:1). The Brazen Altar was for the sinner; the Brazen Laver for the Saint. The former testified of the Blood of Christ; the latter, of the Word of God. The former cleansed the conscience; the latter, the conduct. The sons of Aaron, already cleansed, clothed, and crowned, had nevertheless to wash their hands and feet in the Laver before entering the Tabernacle or approaching the Altar. To maintain conscious fellowship with God and to be effective Ministers in Priestly service for man, the daily washing of the Word must never be neglected, lest death enter the soul. Every Believer stands on the common ground of Calvary and the Word; in Old Testament times, the former was represented by the Brazen Altar, and the latter was represented by the Brazen Laver. Regrettably, most of the worship that is presently claimed to be unto the Lord is not based on the Atoning Work of Calvary, but rather on something else. And it doesn’t really matter what else it is, if it’s not the Cross, it’s not acceptable to God (Eph. 2:13–18). Eph 2:13 But nowe in Christ Iesus, ye which once were farre off, are made neere by the blood of Christ. Eph 2:14 For he is our peace, which hath made of both one, and hath broken the stoppe of the partition wall, Eph 2:15 In abrogating through his flesh the hatred, that is, the Lawe of commandements which standeth in ordinances, for to make of twaine one newe man in himselfe, so making peace, Eph 2:16 And that he might reconcile both vnto God in one body by his crosse, and slay hatred thereby, Eph 2:17 And came, and preached peace to you which were afarre off, & to them that were neere. Eph 2:18 For through him we both haue an entrance vnto the Father by one Spirit
