DAN BULLOCK SALUTES....The Legacy/Legend of Tom Blasingame..... On the wall of my study is a photo of Tom Blasingame. A daily reminder of the values of the old West, lived out until he passed at age 91. Tom was a true cowboy, a horse whisperer and a man who understood and loved the land. He spent most of his life in solitude, tending to his duties as a foreman on the JA Ranch in northwest Texas. This election campaign season prompts a focus on the personal, corporate and community values that determine our quality of life. Tom Blasingame modeled integrity, self-awareness, strong work ethic and kindness to people and animals. I was privileged to spend time with him at the ranch and know him better through members of his family. Cowboy poets and songwriters have lauded him for years. Ill let these articles tell some of his story. As to self-awareness, he realized his time had come and was found lying on the ground next to his loyal horse. Toms hands were crossed over his chest.
