DANCE TIP: Choose your dance-related email address carefully. An email address that doesnt sound very dance-y could be off-putting to potential gigs or students - Ive seen dancer email addresses along the lines of proudmama@hotmail or farmerjane@yahoo or veganactivist@gmail or spankmehard@sbcglobal which dont suggest the person would have much credibility as a belly dance teacher or performer. Even if youre not a professional dancer, and youre happy to perform for city festivals, county fairs, and other non-paid events, its still valuable to have an e-mail address that sounds as though you care enough about belly dance to present it in a polished way thats pleasing to watch. Also beware of Hotmail. Its not a good tool for dance correspondence because its spam trapping can cause you to miss out on important dance-related opportunities such as inquiries from gigs or potential students, invitations to perform in shows that others are organizing, announcements about workshops that you might want to attend, etc.
