DANCER SPOTLIGHT - ALLISON SCHIELER! OUR NEWEST COMPANY MEMBER! Allison Schielers professional dance training began upon her acceptance to LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts at Lincoln Center, where she studied classical ballet, pointe, the Horton and Graham techniques, tap, and jazz. She supplemented this extensive dance education by becoming a student in Alvin Ailey American Dance Theaters Pre-Professional division and Earl Mosleys Institute for the Arts. Additionally, she pursued training in acrobatics, taking classes in contortion, hand balancing, and tumbling with Antigravity Dance & Gymnastics Co. affiliate Charlyn DiLorenzo. Allison continued her education as a dance major at New York University/Tisch School of the Arts, where she trained with and performed works by David Dorfman Dance, Battleworks, Kate Weare, Séan Curran, Keigwin + Company, Ron K. Brown and Evidence Dance Company, Ellis Wood Dance, Gina Gibney Dance, Nicholas Leichter Dance, Pamela Pietro, Cherylyn Lavagnino, and Deborah Jowitt. During her time at NYU, she was selected to work with NBC Smash choreographer Joshua Bergasse and to perform alongside Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, and Robin Williams at the Face of Tisch Gala. She is currently participating in the Work Study program at Body&Pole, where she teaches and trains as a contortionist and aerialist. Allison currently performs professionally with MachineHistrionica, Callie Hatchett and Dancers, and The Folk Circus. She also freelances as a dancer, choreographer, and acrobat.
