DAS 3 & 4 POSTPONED? On 25th August 2014, the website indiantelevision declared that the I&B Ministry Secretary Mr. Bimal Julka conveyed to it that the deadline for DAS Phases 3 & 4 had been extended to December 2015. Other websites have further stated that DAS Phase 3 has been extended to December 2015 while DAS Phase 4 has been extended to December 2016. This is an extremely important announcement, and one wonders why the news was not broken by the I&B minister himself? While we have no reason to doubt any websites declaration the following points need to be considered: 1. Upto 1st September 2014, no official notification has been issued either on the I&B website or the I&B Ministrys digital indiamib website. No print notification has been issued by the MIB even 7 days later! 2. No website has specifically quoted the exact words/ references made by the I&B Secretary Mr. Bimal Julka, when breaking this news. 3. There is no statement of confirmation or denial by the I&B minister. 4. Not a single national level TV News Channel has carried this news or an interview of a responsible Government person confirming this news. 5. Not a single national newspaper has carried a print report confirming this news. Informal enquiries by Satellite & Cable TV Magazine indicate that a decision has probably being taken to postpone DAS Phases 3 and 4. However the deafening silence continues.
