DAUGHTER OF FORMER POLICE CHIEF ASSAULTED WITH RACIAL CONTENT Bangalore : December 2014 (Tuesday) Hardly two month has passed since an engineering student from NE was beaten up by a group of men who reportedly abused and then attacked him for not speaking Kannada. Yet on another occasion, Bangalore witnessed a seemingly racial discrimination when the daughter of former city police commissioner Mr. HT Sangliana, Mrs. Rachel Sangliana is assaulted by a burkha clad women. The incident happened at around 3 PM, December 7 (Sunday) when Rachel was allegedly assaulted, pushed, and racially abused by two women at a supermarket when she objected to their cutting her off in the queue. According to ‘Bangalore Mirror’, Rachel was at the counter waiting for her checkout when a woman abruptly attempt to cut the queue and evade the long queue of customers. Rachel immediately intervened and politely asked the woman to wait for their turn pointing out that she too is in a hurry waiting by her ailing child at home. That’s when the woman with her companion in a burkha assaulted her, spitting a derogatory and abusive words with a racial remarks including “This is not China, go back, you belong to China, You didn’t belong to India.” Soon after the incident three women from Nagaland came to her rescue and broke the fight and help her. These women sit beside the traumatized victim to offer her a company until her husband arrived. Rachel sustained a bruised chest and a scalp.
