DAY 11: Pray4Laos & Pray 4 Western Sahara LAOS, SOUTHEAST ASIA According to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), four out of ten women are either pregnant or have a child by the age of nineteen. Dr. Esther Muia, UNFPA spokeswoman, said, “Teenage pregnancy is not just a health issue. It is a social ill, and it is a development concern. It is deeply rooted in poverty, gender inequality, violence, child and forced marriage, power imbalances between adolescent girls and their male partners, and lack of education.” Ask the Lord to protect and care for Laos’ teenage mothers and their children. Pray for an end to poverty in Laos. Pray for Christian Believers to share the Gospel with these young women (The Bible, Philippians 2:4). WESTERN SAHARA, NORTH AFRICA In Western Sahara, the Sahrawi women are part of the struggle for independence from Moroccan rule. For nearly 40 years, Western Sahara has been struggling for the right to choose its own fate. Pray that Moroccans will lose their power to lobby against the proposal that calls for the freedom of Western Sahara. Pray for a growing international strength to allow them to become their own country (The Bible, Romans 12:19).
