DAY 201 – LET HIM ASK ------------------------------- The mode in which to go to God, if one lacks wisdom is – “Let him ask.” That simple word, “Let him ask” – “let him ask.” No form of asking is prescribed, no words laid down, no method dictated, no hour/time set apart, no guidelines given – but there it stands in gracious simplicity, “Let him ask.” “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” A person who will not have something from God when all he has to do is ask for it, such a person deserve to die without it. Before we dig deep into the meaning of this simple word, if God will give wisdom to the one who asks for it – how much foolish is the person who does not even ask for wisdom? May God forgive you for such foolishness for the past, and deliver you from it for the future. The word says, “let him ask,” which means ignorance is confessed – submission of not knowing is identified. No man will ask for wisdom until he knows that he is ignorant. Friend, it is important to confess your ignorance into the ear of God, who is present where you are as you yourself are – and this shall be a good beginning for prayer, “LORD, I have discovered now that I am not as wise as I thought I was. I am foolish. LORD, you teach me.” Asking has also in it the fact that God is believed in. We cannot ask from a person whose existence we have any doubt, and we will not ask from a person whom we have serious suspicions that he hears us. Who would stand in the desert and cry aloud, where there is no living ear to hear? Now, friend, you believe that there is God. Ask, then! Do you not believe that he is with you, that he will hear your cry, that he will be pleased in answering your cry to give you what you asks for? If you can believe that there is God, that he is with you and that he will hear you, then ask him to give you the promised wisdom. In this way of approaching God, there is also a clear sight that salvation is by grace. The word does not say, “let him buy from God, let him demand from God, let him earn from God.” Not at all! “Let him ask from God.” You are to ask, and God will give you more freely than you give to a poor beggar in the street. You must acknowledge within you that you have no merit of your own, and believe that God is the rewarder of them that diligently seek him – and he will even now give you the wisdom which saves even your soul. If you think you deserve or you earn what you are asking for, then God will not hear your prayer. In asking, you acknowledge your dependence on God. You see that you cannot find wisdom anywhere else, but that it must come from God. This word, “let him ask,” does not need any explanation, but it needs to be carried out. Some people are objecting to this, in various ways. If you have made some difficulties for yourself by tying knots and wanting them untied before you believe in the LORD Jesus, then I don’t have words for you. Beware though, lest you tie a knot that shall destroy your very soul – but if you be troubled with an honest and sincere objection, I say to you now, in Jesus’ name, “Ask from God.” You don’t need to wait until you get home, you don’t need to wait for any particular time, but now, silently, in your soul, “O God, you teach me. Lead me to the cross of Christ Jesus. Help me to see Jesus. Save my soul today. God, please end these doubts within me.” “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” Let him ask—that is all—let him ask.
