DAY 253 – HIS PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE CAN NEVER BE CHANGED ---------------------------------------------------------- Some people are sitting on the very doorstep of heaven. They are over eighty years old, so they cannot be here for long. Can they not trust the LORD for the few months or years remaining? If you are that old, the LORD has been helping you ever since you were a youth. He has rescued you out of all sorts of troubles – do you think he will forsake you? What makes you think that he will leave you now? You knew the LORD while you were still young, and he has never left you – why will he leave you now? No! God will never forsake you. Blessed be his name forevermore! All those past years of his favour towards us confirm and instil the conviction in us that he will keep on rescuing and delivering us till he brings us safely home. The LORD has not only delivered us often, but he has done it in a wonderful way, and he will go on working in same fashion. He has displayed marvellous wisdom in saving us from the consequences of our foolishness. Mostly, he has been luxurious and lavish in his mercy upon us that he might help us in our times of need, and not once has he failed us. There is not one broken promise of his and he has never withheld a covenant blessing from us. I believe there is none of those who have known God the longest, who have anything to say against him. You have never had any reason for doubting him and you have never had any suspicion of his faithfulness which might lead you to mistrust him in the future. The LORD has delivered, he is delivering, and he will continue to deliver you. The evidence and proof that God will always be with us is best supported by his nature and character. He is always the same, and everything is always present in his unchanging mind. What was the nature of God when he first decided to deliver and save you? Was it love? Then, it is still love even now. What was the motive which compelled the son of God when he came from above, and snatched me from danger? It was love, amazing love. And it is amazing love which still moves him to save you. Have you not sung about his faithfulness? That faithfulness is just the same today as it was then. Have you not adored and admired his wisdom? That wisdom has not been diminished. God doesn’t only have the same nature as he always has, but there has always been the same unchanging purpose too, in him. Me and you shift and change – and we have to be like that, since we make reckless promises and thoughtless plans. But God, who is infinitely wise, always keeps to his purpose. If it was his original purpose to save us, that purpose still stands, and shall forever stand. Heaven and earth may disappear and the sun may stop shining, but the mandate and the manifesto of the immutable (unchanging) God shall never be changed. If the LORD has purposed it, no one can cancel it. If his hand is stretched out, no one can fold it. If the LORD opens the door, no one can shut it. If the LORD shuts the door, no one can open it. Blessed be his name forever!
