DAY 31: A whole month into sobriety. They say it takes doing something consecutively for thirty days to make it a habit. Well, for one I can no longer rely on stimulants to fill the void and its created a habit of depending on myself for stimulation. Ive been taking cold showers in the morning and its changing my life. Aside from the fact that it increases your serotonin levels immensely, it allows you to step out of your comfort zone. Every time I think, I dont want to do that, I realize that its EXACTLY WHAT I SHOULD DO. And it translates to other areas of your life. When you find yourself in a moment of vulnerability, you need to seize it - do what you wouldnt normally do - because thats the only way youre going to become the person you want to be, by stepping outside of that box, by not PLAYING IT SAFE. Im not saying you should light your hair on fair and jump your car into a river, Im saying quit rejecting opportunities that will make you stronger. Work out even though youre tired, talk to that stranger, wake up at a Godly hour, go the extra mile at work, help someone you know can never help you back, challenge yourself, and for the love of Altoids, SMILE! Action follows feeling, but by regulating the action we can indirectly regulate the feeling. In other words, smile, and happiness will follow. Break your boundaries. Dont hesitate in that moment, go for it. Message for the day kids ;)
