DAY 38: NEL ACKNOWLEDGES DEFENCE’S OBJECTION, CROSS-EXAMINATION CONTINUES At the start of Day 38 of the Oscar Pistorius Trial, Advocate Kenny Oldwadge referred to the court record in order to back up his objection to Advocate Gerrie Nel’s cross-examination last week - where Nel had asked defence witness Professor Wayne Derman about where he saw reference to Oscar having ‘run’ on the night when Reeva died. Having listened to Oldwadge at length, Judge Masipa eventually said that she would have to go through the record herself. After a back and forth between the state and the defence, Nel conceded that he would apologise for his line of questioning and having referred unclearly to what he meant by Oscar ‘running’ – and asked to continue with the trial, which Masipa allowed for. The cross-examination of Professor Derman, a sports and exercise medicine physician, which began last week, continued thereafter.
