DAY 42: The Glorious Mysteries IN LIEU OF TODAYS USUAL QUOTE: Last night I was just completing my rosary walk at around 4 a.m. when I felt spontaneously moved to recite the 12th century pledge made by French troubadours to the Black Virgin of Toulouse: Lady, I am yours, as long as my life endures. At that moment there was a flash of pale blue light deep in the woods up the ridge off to my right, after which a barred owl cried out in a long call I have never heard before. There arent any troubadours left these days, so I suppose She has to make do with authors. BELOW: Illustration of a barred owl encounter from the series Joy by Will Lytle of Thorneater Comics (hes on Facebook). Will is a fellow Woodstock night owl and the illustrator for my next book, Waking Up to the Dark.
