DAY 5 OF THE FIVE DAY CHALLENGE: Today Im posting commissions---two public, and two private. 1. 2001, Las Virgines Valley,13ft.x10ft. This was for a 20 million dollar, titanium clad library in Cerritos, Orange County. It took only 6 1/2 weeks to paint because I scaled up the size of the brushes and brushwork to the same ratio as a 6ft. tall painting. Plus I was crazed, and painted every day I possibly could. I know exactly where I was on 9/11, and where I was on the painting! 2.a.,2011, Lake Cachuma Triptych, all 34x70,for the Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara. 2.b. The triptych in situ. 3. 2010,View Toward Morro Bay,38x60. I will do a private commission only if its my kind of subject, from photos I took, or studies I made on location. Its best if its an area, or view that I had intended to paint anyway. That way, if the collector isnt satisfied, I will gladly take it back. 4. 2012, View from Old Creek Road, 35x54 Im nominating Connie Jenkins, who does beautiful jewel-like realist paintings, and is represented by Craig Krull gallery in Santa Monica (as am I).
