DAY 545 WHEN WILL THIS SIEGE BE OVER? Jeremiah 29:8-10: For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed. 9 For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name; I have not sent them, saith the Lord. 10 For thus saith the Lord, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good work toward you, in causing you to return to this place. 11 for I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” The Picture It has been a difficult time financially for me lately. And to make it worse, all the people I usually turn to for help are also in similar dire straits. I wake up each day hoping that a miracle will happen and all my financial challenges will come to an end and a new season of favour will be heralded. And as you imagine, I go to church often with the same mind. You can imagine my elation when during one of the church programs a highly “ANOINTED” prophet of God started speaking into our lives. He prophesied that before 24 hours, all my problems would be over. The amen was so loud it nearly brought the roof down. I was so happy that all my church members helped me to shout amen to a prophesy that was meant for me. Or could it be that they were going through a similar situation? The prophet went ahead to pronounce several beautiful things that would happen to me the next day. And I blessed the name of the Lord that I was at the prayer meeting that day. Unfortunately however, the next day, I came across our scripture for today and my elation took a pinch of caution. I saw a parallel between myself and the Israelites while they were carried away as captives in Babylon by king Nebuchadnezzar. And I decided to take a closer look at the scriptures. The background to our citation of the day was the advice the Lord sent to those held captives and waiting for deliverance. He first told them to make the best of their situations. In verses 5-7 He actually advised then to build houses and plant gardens and eat therefrom. He told them to increase even in the land and be in peace. He warned them not to listen to the prophets that will only echo their dreams of immediate release, because they deceive them and he has not sent them. Hmmm. Sounds like am back to square one. However, thereafter the Lord informed them of the plans He has for them. He distinctly mentioned that after a particular season, He will visit ME and PERFORM His good work towards me. And take me to my expected destination and position. It appears the Lord has His timing for my deliverance perfectly worked out. And while I wait, He has told me what to do. And at the time of the Lord, I will call and He will hearken unto me. And I will find His favour. I expect there are many like me waiting for the deliverance and favour of the Lord. Let us not hurry His timing. He will move on our behalf according to His schedule. It is easy to get excited by the promises of prophets putting it exactly as we wish. But the Lord is sovereign and has His plans. He told me to seek peace in captivity. I have found it in the scripture for today. My season for favour shall come, but meanwhile, I will wait, contented that He will never fail on His promises. Are you able to claim this scripture for yourself?. Good day folks. Uncle Fisherman
