DAY GOSPEL YEAR B - DAY 27/12 Saw and believed - John 20: 2-8 On the first day of the week, 2 Mary Magdalene ran and went to meet Simon Peter and the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid. 3 They left, then Peter and the other disciple went to the tomb. 4 The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5 Looking in, saw the linen cloths on the ground, but did not. 6 It also Simon Peter, who had been chasing, and entered the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying on the floor 7 and the cloth that had been around Jesus head, not put on the tracks, but wrapped together in a place by itself. 8 Then went in also that other disciple, who had reached the tomb first. He saw and believed. - Word of Salvation. - Glory to you, Lord. prayerful reading OPENING PRAYER I prepare for the prayerful reading, praying: In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I believe, Lord Jesus, I am part of his body. Blessed Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - present and acting in the Church and in the depth of my being. I love you, love you and thank you. 1- READING (TRUTH) - What does the Word say? I read carefully the text of the Gospel in the Bible: John 20.2-8 Then (Mary Magdalene) was running to the place where they were Simon Peter and the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said: - They have taken the Lord Jesus from the tomb, and we do not know where they have put him! Then Peter and the other disciple went to the tomb. The two ran together, but the other ran faster than Peter and arrived first. He bent down to look in and saw the linen cloths; but did not enter the tomb. But Peter, who arrived shortly after he entered. He also saw the sheets placed there and the track which had put around the head of Jesus. The track was not with the linen clothes, but wrapped was next door. Then the other disciple who had come first, also entered the tomb. He saw and believed. Mary Magdalene goes early, when it was still dark, to the tomb. This symbolizes the belief that darkness quenched the light. His walk to the grave means the searches of communities who long life, but who seek it in the wrong place. But the other disciple John, the beloved disciple, saw the empty tomb and believed. Who loves believe, love gives credits, generates faith. 2- MEDITATION (PATH) - What the Word says to me? I wonder: where path? To the empty tomb, in the dark? Or under the impulse of love that leads me to discover the new life Jesus Christ live in my community? I like the beloved disciple, John? I read aloud to me and anyone else who is with me, the message of the bishops, inspired in the invitation of the disciples of Emmaus: Stay with us, because it falls in the afternoon and the day has declined (Lk 24:29). Stay with us, Lord, is still with us we have not always recognized you. Stay with us, because all around us the most dense shadows will doing, and You are the Light; in our hearts creeps hopelessness, and you make them burn with the certainty of Easter. We are tired of the way, but you confortas in the breaking of bread to announce our brothers who in fact you have risen and that has given us the mission of being witnesses of your resurrection. Stay with us, Lord, when around our Catholic faith arise mists of doubt, weariness or difficulty: you who are Truth itself as revealing the Father, enlighten our minds with your word; helps us feel the beauty of believing in you. It is in our families, enlighten them in their doubts, supports them in their difficulties, console them in their sufferings and fatigue of each day, when around them shadows build up which threaten their unity and their nature. You who are the Life, is in our homes, to continue to be nests where human life is born abundant and generously, which is welcomed, is loved and respected life from conception to natural death. It is, Lord, with those in our society are the most vulnerable; is the poor and humble, with indigenous and african-Americans, who are not always space and support to express the richness of their culture and the wisdom of their identity. It is, Lord, with our children and with our young people, who are the hope and the wealth of our continent, protects them from so many snares that attack their innocence and their legitimate hopes. Oh Good Shepherd, is with our elders and our sick! Strengthens all in their faith that they may be your disciples and missionaries! (Dap 554). 3- PRAYER (LIFE) - What the Word leads me to say to God? Jesus Master Truth, Way and Life Jesus Master, sanctify my mind and increase my faith. Jesus, living Master in the Church, draw everyone to your school. Jesus way, may I be your authentic witness before men. Jesus life, grant that my presence infuses all with your love and your joy. 4- contemplation (LIFE AND MISSION) - What is my new look from the Word? I will cultivate a look that discovers in the community life, the signs of life, the presence of the Risen One. BLESSING - God bless us and keep us.
