DBS Checks on Private Pracitioners: Good Afternoon All, I went to a BAPCA meeting this morning together with 4 other counsellors. A heated topic of debate was DBS checks (the old CRBs) and how we could obtain them for ourselves as practitioners in private practice. It seems it is not possible to acquire a check solely on ourselves for our own private practices, but that we have to rely on existing ones from our voluntary work at Agencies. What are other peoples experiences of this since I am considering contacting BACP private practice division to take this extremely important matter up on our behalfs. After all, we are required in the Ethical Framework to Safeguard our clients and yet we dont seem to be able to obtain this as the law currently stands! A crazy situation I would suggest. Debs
