DCCC LAUNCHES PAID GRASSROOTS EFFORT TO URGE CONGRESSMAN STEVE PEARCE NOT TO SHUT DOWN GOVERNMENT OVER OBAMACARE The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is launching a paid grassroots campaign to thousands of New Mexico constituents to urge Congressman Steve Pearce not to shut down the 20130827-113901.jpggovernment over their Obamacare fight. The DCCC is paying for automated phone calls so the people of New Mexico can connect directly with Congressman Pearce and ask him to “stop the nonsense and focus on common sense solutions that protect our health care and grow our economy.” Congressman Pearce’s House Republicans are threatening to shut down the government in order to eliminate provisions of the Affordable Care Act that protect consumers and prevent insurance companies from taking free rein over health care. The calls begin today and continue through this week. The call script running against Congressman Steve Pearce is below: “Hi, I’m calling on behalf of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee with a Voter Information Alert. Republicans in Congress are threatening to shut down the government unless they can eliminate your rights and consumer protections under the Affordable Care Act. You heard that right: take away healthcare or shut down the government. That’s the choice. It’s appalling. “And if Congressman Steve Pearce doesn’t make it stop, seniors’ Social Security checks would be up in the air and our military families couldn’t count on getting paid. It would have a devastating impact on families around the country. “And what does this mean for you?
