DEADLINE EXTENSION!!! DRUNKEN BOAT HONG KONG FOLIO has extended - TopicsExpress

DEADLINE EXTENSION!!! DRUNKEN BOAT HONG KONG FOLIO has extended its submission deadline to 10 JANUARY 2015. Some say the protests have ended with the clearances. Others say it is just the beginning. There are reports of sightings of the yellow umbrella in unexpected, out of context parts of the city. Of carolling with political lyrics, of the resurgence of the Lennon Wall, and mostly, in gentler whispers, of talk, reflection, processing, in this holiday time, of what actually happened. Meaning-making. The reason why we read, why we write. In understanding that, Drunken Boat has extended its submission deadline for the Hong Kong Folio until 10th JANUARY 2015. Once again - 10th JANUARY 2015. For those whod been wondering about it all, and have been jotting and scribbling and trying to figure it all out. Submission rules as below: https://drunkenboat.submittable/submit CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Drunken Boat Special Issue on Hong Kong Arising out of Arthur Rimbaud’s Le Bateau ivre, Drunken Boat is an international journal of the arts that publishes works of art endemic to the medium of the web, such as video, sound, hypertext, digital animation, alongside innovative works of prose, poetry, translation and photography. We like work that stretches form, irrespective of aesthetics. Were especially interested in work that uses the medium of the web as part of its compositional strategy. As a reputed online journal with a large international readership, we like art that ranges from quirky to somber. We also encourage emerging writers to find a voice within our publication. DB#21, Hong Kong Folio For our upcoming issue, Drunken Boat #21, we are doing a folio on Hong Kong, specifically on the Umbrella Revolution. What does the Revolution mean to you? Did it seem inevitable, or were you surprised? Did you know it would happen, are there eyewitness accounts? What has evolved over time? What are the stories to be found in the middle of all this? We are looking for fiction and non-fiction submissions of not more than 5000 words. We are also interested in poetry submissions. Works in translation that foreground the work of the original author are welcome. In addition, we are especially interested in visual, digital and cross-media work, so if you have photos and videos of the protests that can be used as a storytelling device, even better. Drunken Boat Blog As an online journal, we also run an online blog that publishes work on an ongoing basis. Any pieces that are more timely snapshots of the protests at the moment, will be welcome. You can familiarize yourself with our aesthetics here: drunkenboat Please note: We only consider previously unpublished work. That includes work published on personal blogs. Please include a short bio in the Cover Letter field in this category. Please make sure to check our issues to get a feel for what we generally go for (drunkenboat/db19/) Please specify in the subject line of your submission the category in question, ie ‘Hong Kong Folio’ for the issue submission, and ‘Blog’ for the online blog submission. All the best! Drunken Boat Editors 119 Main St. Chester, CT 06412
