DEALING WITH OFFENCES According to the Macmillan Dictionary, the word “offence” means: - a crime or illegal activity for which there is a punishment - the feeling of being angry, upset, or insulted, caused by something that someone says or does - something that makes you feel angry and upset because it is insulting, unfair, or morally wrong Our topic is about the two last meanings of the word “offence”. When you feel angry or upset because of something that someone does or says about you. Offence is the trap number one that Satan uses to keep believers in bondage. Jesus said that offences will always be there. Luke 17: 1Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe [unto him], through whom they come! 2It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones If we don’t deal well with them (offences), they lead to death. Where offence has occurred, first there is betrayal, then hatred which can lead to death. If you go through the stories of Simeon and Levi (Genesis 34) or Absalom (2 Samuel 13) you can see some examples there. People who will offend you (or you will offend) are those close to you. It can be your husband or your wife; it can be your brother or sister, your parents or children, your friend, your Pastor or the brethren in the Church… David stated it in the following words in Psalms 55:12-14: For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company. Jesus said that during End times there will be a lot of offended people, iniquity will abound and love will grow cold. The false prophets will arise and deceive people. The offended one is the easy one to be deceived. Matthew 24: 10And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11And many FALSE prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. We are at that time Jesus predicted, we have to be alert and to know how to deal with offences. In Proverbs 18:19, it is said that “A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are the bars of a castle.” Forgiveness is the remedy to offence. Jesus taught His disciples to forgive those who offend them while they ask for forgiveness to God for their offences. Matthew 6:12-14. We need to forgive because we also have been forgiven by Him a lot of sins. May God protect your heart from offences. FORGIVE, FORGIVE, FORGIVE and DON’T OFFEND OTHERS. May God bless you.
