DEATH DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE No matter your wealth, your health, your height, your weight. Death does not discriminate. When you see the well off supposedly “winning at life”, know that you can only “win” at death. You win when you see the angels of mercy coming to take your soul. If you see the angels of punishment, you lose. You win when your last words are firm on the statement of tawheed [1] . You lose if you are prevented from saying so. Whether you’re a hundred years or a minute old, the angel of death can take a hold. Death will not look at your bank account and give you a year extension. Death will not look at your hair colour, your skin colour or your eye colour and grant you more time. Whether you are a millionaire with mansions and treasures, death will bypass your security measures. It has all been decreed and there are no exceptions. Death and its stupor [2] took the greatest of men ( ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ ). He was more deserving than us for time extended. He was the Messenger who came to us with truth and salvation. Death took him and it will take us too. It is a promise made my He who does not break them. Everything has its appointed time [3] and in this is the Sunnah of Allaah. Death and destruction are destined for creation; as was the fate of the previous nations. Yet, in death, there is hope still. If you were righteous and firm and it is Allaah’s will. Eternal paradise or eternal hellfire are what await. Truly, death does not discriminate. [1] Allaah said: “Allaah will keep firm those who believe, with the word that stands firm in this world (i.e. they will keep on worshipping Allaah Alone and none else), and in the Hereafter.And Allaah will cause to go astray those who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong- doers, etc.), and Allaah does what He wills.” 14:27 [2] Allaah said: “And the stupor of death will come in truth: ‘This is what you have been avoiding!’” 50:19 Also refer to this hadith [3] Allaah said: “Do they not think deeply (in their ownselves) about themselves (how Allah created them from nothing, and similarly He will resurrect them)? Allah has created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, except with truth and for an appointed term . And indeed many of mankind deny the Meeting with their Lord.” 30:8
