In a plea deal, Robert Richards IV was sentenced to probation, without incarceration, for the admission of guilt in the act of rape against his 3 year old daughter. We are appalled to hear the oral statement of Judge Jurden in her ruling; He would not do well in prison. As we now have a dangerous precedence set in this hearing and in a blatant disregard of the penal laws for the violent act of incestuous rape against a child by a person in the position of trust, the parent. Judge Jurden has acted with considerable concern for a child rapist, based not on the penal laws for this crime, but with prejudice and without legal merit in the ruling based on her personal determination without cause. We are appalled by the State Attorney Office that allowed this plea and release of a child predator into the community and with considerable threat to many children for which financial means to buy, not only the justice system, but at risk vulnerable children. We are appalled at the disregard of not only Delaware in their laws and protections for children, but the entire nation that has not protected families and children. We demand the resignation of Judge Jan Jurden and actions by the State Attorney’s office to address this failure of the state of Delaware and the criminal court of Judge Jan Jurden.
