DEVELOPMENT SHOULD BE MORE THAN A PAPER-WORK. Ethiopian government has been boasting of a rapid two digit growth. Should this growth really be invisible to citizens? Shouldnt they enjoy the growth?? Who should sense the growth if its real one? The above questions remain unanswered as long as the growth / development is only cosmetic or a show-business. People are suffering . Suffering from economic crisis, to the extent that they are unable to cover basic needs. Suffering from diseases and starvation, to the extent they are unable to buy prescribed medicines and food. On the contrary, the double standard policy favors military officers and high ranking government officials live a luxurious life. This gap is because of deep-rooted tradition of the regime (corruption) and irresponsible displacing and land grabbing . IRRESPONSIBILITY of the RULING PARTY could be sited from different perspectives. 1)LEGAL IRRESPONSIBILITY No rule of law. A simple directive and minute can abandon the constitution - mother of laws of the nation. Citizens have no right to retain their properties if government needs them in the name of DEVELOPMENT . 2) SOCIAL IRRESPONSIBLITY. Its not uncommon to see citizens displaced in the name of DEVELOMENT without any compensation . Many have become homeless in this way. Another good example of social irresponsibility is that exclusion health conditions of handicapped (physically disabled) citizens in construction of roads, and development programs. 3. POLITICAL IRRESPONSIBILITY Failure to resolve political problems is not a simple matter. Political discussion, reconciliation and participation may lead to stability. But the regime turns deaf ear and blind eyes to existing problems. The RULING PARTY TRIES TO COOK EVERY THING IN A CONFINED ROOM. 4. ENVIRONMENTALLY UNFRIENDLY POLICY. In ethiopia , laws and policies on paper are SMART ENOUGH TO WIN HEARTS OF WESTERN COUNTRIES. When we come to the fact on the ground, nothing more than A PAPER WORK . Socially irresponsible and environmentally unfriendly development is not a true development. It may even lead to whole crisis of nation.
