DID YOU KNOW .... In 1994 The then Acting Finance Minister Cde E D Mnangagwa became the first Black Minister to mention the word Black lndeginisation??? In a letter dated 26 September Minister Mnangagwa pleaded with the then IFC Director for African Affairs Mr Mutumwa Mawere to help set up a Black Enterprise fund whose function were exactly the same as the current Community Share Trusts . The first Beneficiaries of such a Black Scheme were Econet Boss Dr Strive Masiyiwa and Dr Dumiso Dabengwa and Mutumwa Mawere . President Mugabe even set up a Committee to look into Black Emancipation programmes which was chaired by Mnangagwa himself . For those who dont know Mawere lost Shabine mine more because of tribalism than anything . I know most people dont know this . Mnangagwa was accused by the Then Masvingo Godfather Edison Zvobgo and Mujuru family of promoting his Midlands Province at the expense of other tribes . President Mugabe was forced to include Oppah Muchinguri (Manicaland ) and Cde Dumiso Dabengwa (Matebeleland ) in that same committee and pressure mounted that Mawere was suppose to relinquish Shabine Mine because he was no longer Zimbabwean . Mnangagwa couldnt defend Mawere who was also from Midlands after tribalism allegations arose . Comong back to the Black Enterprise Development ... The gvt , under the complete authority from Mnangagwa wanted to promote Black business people . It was in gvt view that every tender from the gvt must first be given to Black owned companies . Strive Masiyiwa formed Retrofitt Ltd and Dumiso Dabengwa formed Mattols Ltd . These two companies obtained several tenders from the gvt . On the contrary Amai Mujuru became the first Black Minister to block the formation of Black enterprises after frustrating Masiyiwa Econet left right and centre . Masiyiwa knows deep down his heart that Mnangagwa was a pro - Black Enterprise man but sometimes his hand were also right from his colleagues who were very very greedy and wanted everything for themselves . I wont be surprised to hear that Mnangagwa and Masiyiwa actually cooperated in making sure that we get rid of anti -Black elements in Zanu pf . Masiyiwa is a businessman and he knows that the only man in Zanu Pf whos support for Black businesses is unquestionable is Mnangagwa
