DIDNT THE CITY OF WESLACO, OR WESLACO EDC BRAG ON HOW DAVID ARCE WAS ABLE TO BRING THE STATE TOURNAMENT EITHER POP WARNER OR SOME YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE TO PANTHER STADIUM? THAT GREAT IN ALL BUT THINK ABOUT THE FUNDS OUR CITY IS LOOSING THAT COULD OF GONE TO THE CITY PARKS & REC. I WOULD THINK BEING THE PARKS & REC. DIRECTOR HE WOULD WANT THE ACTUAL PARKS HOSTING THESE EVENTS. WESLACO CITIZEN Rick Rodriguez: I received a call from a coach from one of the bigger softball organizations in the valley who said his team called Weslaco to ask about holding a tournament here. They were told “we (city parks & Rec) would to hold a tournament but unfortunately our fields are in no condition to hold a tournament The team is having the tournament in Harlingen now. That wouldve brought 30-50 families to Weslaco over 2 days. All those families wouldve eaten at a restaurant at least once if not twice. Weslaco is missing out. The city commissioner’s (yes, ALL of them) and it even seems like the mayor could care less about doing anything about it. I personally would rather (and do) give my business to citys that actually care enough about the kids and take care of their parks.
