Understanding the Bible Musterion 4 The gospel of the mystery comes directly from Jesus Christ. This is the gospel that apply to us, the body of Christ. "But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I received it not of man nor was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ "(Gal 1:11-12). It is as if Paul removes all uncertainty regarding this issue. Read how he emphasized once again that he was the one that received the mystery from Christ: "If ye have heard of the dispensation (oikonomia / dispensation) of the grace of God which is given me to you, He made known to me by revelation the mystery "(Eph. 3:2-3). Paul often received visions and revelations from Christ. To such an extent that God gave him a thorn in the flesh to prevent it to be not too important in his own eyes. Read what he wrote about this for the believers in Corinth: And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure."" (2 Cor 12:7). God made known his will for the church in this dispensation of grace revealed to Paul. Jesus final instructions to us are not the words which he spoke before his ascension on the Mount of Olives. Years later he gave new instructions to you and me when he received new revelations entrusted to Paul – “The musterion” (secret) (“mystery”). This is what the church do not understand. The gospel of the mystery was simply not known when Jesus was on earth. Jesus and the apostles preached the gospel of the kingdom (Matthew 4:23; 10:7). “Not the gospel of grace !!!”
