DISOBEDIENCE IS EXPENSIVE AND DISCIPLESHIP IS COSTLY Judges 6:1-10 informs us that the Israelites committed sin and did not live according to the instructions of the Lord and therefore; 1. They were hidden away from the presence of the Lord – When we sin we are forced away from the presence of the Lord because of our guilty conscience. We became like our forefathers Adam and Eve who hid themselves from the presence of the Lord after eating the forbidden fruit 2. They were given away to the Midianites- Sinners are always imprisoned by their lust. They worship the God of the neighbours and therefore became entrapped, harassed and deprived by the midianites, the amalekitesetc. They raided their farm when the crops are ripe and carted away their animals. 3. They were forced to live in caves, dens on mountains and strongholds because of the oppression, harassment and ill treatment they suffered in the hand of their neighbours. They were removed from the source of their subsistence. 4. They were made completely poor. Sin gradually erode sinners wealth, crave takes away your money, sinful habits rampages your wealth as the locusts destroy the farm and consequently make us poor. 5. They prayed unto the Lord like the prodigal son and God sent his prophet to them. When God furnishes a land with faithful ministers, it is a token that he has mercy in store for it. He charges them with rebellion against the Lord; he intends to bring them to repentance. Repentance is real when the sinfulness of sin, as disobedience to God, is chiefly lamented.
