DIY AFTERNOON PROJECT: RESTORE YOUR OLD GARDEN TOOLS: We got these old garden tools from a friend. They were headed for the dump. With a bit of sanding to smooth out the handles and to knock off the rust, we had a great base to give them a new finish. Using an old rag we rubbed linseed oil on the wood handle. We added a little yellow paint to the upper portion of metal. No need to paint the entire head of the tools since it will just chip off immediately. Let it dry and finally, we rubbed some linseed oil on the bare metal to avoid future rusting. Brand new tools with a new lease on life.
