DIY lice treatment. Have any of you mommies been pegged with those pesky little vermin? Dont waste your money on those lice treatments that say its gone in 7 days. No, you still have the problem 6 months later. An easy inexpensive tip. BABY OIL. One, it is less damaging to your childs hair than those lice treatments. Those chemicals damage their hair. Two, you can use it more than once in the same use. Three, you get rid of it A LOT faster than any other lice treatment brand on the market. Heres what to do. Dont worry about bagging items. The lice can still live off of the stuffed animals. STEAM wash them, or wash them on the hottest setting in your washer. Use the baby oil to coat your childs hair. Use a shower cap to cover their hair, and leave it on for about 20 minutes, or until the scratching stops. Basically, youre suffocating them. After 20 minutes remove the shower cap and comb your childs hair. Make sure you comb thoroughly to remove the nits and lice. Wash their hair normally. Unlike lice treatment where you have to wait 7 days to treat again you can repeat this process. In 7 days the lice or nits that you missed will regenerate and you have the same process to deal with over and over again. Yes, the baby oil will cause their hair to be oily. Wash their hair thoroughly, maybe 2 or 3 times to get the oil consistency out. Do a third treatment with the baby oil to make sure you got everything and the lice should be no more. Less hassle. Less headache of dealing with those nasty critters. - Freckles
