DJ CELLO Malfunktion Records cellodj House - Deep House - Tech House – Techno Bangkok (Thailand) Biography Italian, class 1976, Marcello Giunchi (alias Cello) began his passion for music since his birth, genetically transmitted from a musician Father and a singer Mother. His interests for electronic music started when he was just a young boy, and influenced by the sounds of House Music and newcoming Techno, in 1992 he started djing. Highlights of his career had originated in 1996 with his residency at the techno event Brainshock, lasted untill 1999. There, he could measure himself for the first time with other well known djs of the italian panorama. Other significant appearances at the time include Baia Imperiale, Gheodrome, Club 99. To enrich his knowledge, and escape from the cold italian winter, from 1998 to 2001 he joined animation teams in Tenerife (Spain), Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada (Egypt) where he could be able to collect various gigs at the local clubs. Back in Italy he earned experience in the following years with his residencies at Charro Cafe (MIlan), Bobo (Riccione), Sirtaki Beach (Cervia), Peccato Veniale (Cesenatico), Patanegra (Cesena), Molo 95 (Cesenatico). He also had his weekly mixed radio show, T.V. Mix, aired by Radio Zero (Ravenna) from 2004 to 2007. In late 2005, Cello moved to Bangkok (Thailand), and promptly got his first exposure at the renowed club Route 66 (RCA), where he still hold his friday night residency. In the meanwhile his popoularity in the City of Angels started to grow and he has been invited to play in various clubs and events such as Pattaya Music Festival, Glow, Pollys, Escudo, as well as some underground afterhours. Later on, he earned more residencies at Khaosan Roads The Club, and RCAs Jazzit. Year 2007 signed a significant moment for his career in the Asian capital, when he became Saturday night resident at The Tunnel, famed as Bangkoks favourite underground club, and lasted until the clubs closure in 2010. In the same period of time, Cello archeived another key residency in one of the most exclusive venues in Asia: Distil, a breathtaking rooftop bar located on the 64th floor of State Tower. There, he could express his wide musical knowledge, and propose different styles such as Lounge, RnB, Funk, Acid Jazz, Bossa nova, Nu Jazz, Deep House and Deep Tech. Afterwards hes been chosen to play in their brand new venue, Cafe Mozu. In the meantime his sets could be appreciated in clubs on the like of Bed Supperclub, Funky Dojo, Lucifer, XXX, Club Ibiza just to name a few. His professionalism and devotion, continuous research of new trends, sonorities and technologies to improve his technique, and the hard earned experience under his belt, are all factors that made Cello a formidable and respected dj over the years.
