DNA - it gets passed down to you whether you like it or not, so you may as well have some idea where yours came from rather than rely on family stories which, frankly, may be wrong or bullshit or both. Therefore, I spit in a cup, paid my money, and found out a good read on my genetic background by region of origin. First, Im all European, which was unsurprising except Ive heard my entire life that I have American Indian blood which, frankly, I had my doubts about. Not that my family may not have such, but I think I was switched at birth. Evidence, damn it! I have evidence! Anyway, heres the rough breakdown: European: 100% Great Britain (mainly Celt - Scottish): roughly 43% Ireland: roughly 35% Western Europe: roughly 7% (German, French, Swiss Alpine region) Finland/Northwest Russia: roughly 5% (this surprised the hell out of me) Iberian Peninsula: roughly 4% (damn it, Im a Spanish Celt!) Scandinavia: roughly 4% (Norse, possibly overlapping northern Scotland and Finland - and explaining my Old Norse last name) Italy/Greece: approximately 1% (some damned Romans married into the family somewhere back in the day is my guess) Eastern European:
