#DNDSTORYOFTHEDAY When it doubt. Start a war. (Shared by Gary Fagan) A story from an old campaign I was a part of... The DM decided to have a mid-level campaign with the starting levels being 6-10 after factoring in level adjustments for the various monstrous races involved. Well I was playing a level 7 Wizard. At the point when we were gathering the party the DM uses a cliche tactic of introducing the big bad boss monster of the campaign. It was an Ancient Wyrm Red Dragon and its clan. It was breathing fire on the village below and everything and everyone in its path. This of course included yours truly and the rest of the party. Well I decided to be clever. I took cover behind a solid stone wall after taunting and annoying the dragon with a couple of Ray of Frost cantrips. It blasts the wall and as the stone starts heating up I touched the wall and set off the Shadow Walk spell sending the blast into the Plane of Shadows. Effectively I just made an Ancient Wyrm declare war on the Plane of Shadows...and well things got kind of chaotic when the shadows around the village started coming to life and attacking the Dragon.... My hands suffered severe burns however but stood facing the dragon and said with a cocky grin, a nat 20 on a Bluff check, Ill stop you with this army. The dragon takes off and my wizard passed out after failing the fortitude save to resist the pain... To this day he is known in the village of Bahaum as Johnny Shadow Masters.
