DO NOT go see the new Transformers movie. It may literally be the worst movie Ive ever seen, and yes, I saw the Star Wars Christmas special. No, I was not expecting Shakespeare. I was not even expecting a good movie. I was expecting some popcorn fluff with lousy writing, fun effects and DINO-ROBOTS! Woo hoo!! But no. I got THREE HOURS of insultingly bad hypermelodrama. The green-screen stuff was off. There were scenes obviously filmed backwards. The transitions were startlingly absent. Product placements (every few minutes) held center screen for up to 20 seconds. Wanton destruction of property is old hat at this point in the movie season, but *changing the course of your dino mount* just to demolish a centuries-old artifact really irritated me. Get this - the misogyny was so persistent and palpable that even *Robert*was offended. In a year of mediocre dark-future-blow major-cities-up movies, this was a plummeting low point. It was so bad it actually made me angry. I want that time back. The dino-robots werent even that good. :(
