DO THE DEEDS OF DARKNESS HINDER US FROM ENCOUNTERING THE LIGHT? For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Every one who does evil hates the light and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whosoever lives by the truth comes into the light so that it may bee seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God John 3:16-21 Eternal life is God’s life embodied in Christ given to all believers now as a guarantee that they will live forever. In eternal life there is no separation from God and the powers of evil or sin are defeated as we so abide in Christ with His word resident in us affecting all aspects of our life. How often we make choices as though this life is all we have. In reality this life is just the introduction to eternity. Receive this new life by faith and begin to evaluate all that happens from an eternal perspective John 3:16 To believe is more than an intellectual agreement that Jesus is God. It means to put our trust and confidence in him that he alone can save us. It is to put Christ in charge of our present plans and our eternal destiny. Believing is both trusting his words as reliable and relying on him for the power to change. WE CHOOSE TO BELIEVE AND TRUST CHRIST THEREBY APPROPRIATING HIS PROMISES WE NEED TO ASK CHRIST TO DO HIS WORK IN US AND NOT IGNORE HIM WITH INDIFFERENCE Many people do not want their lives exposed to God’s light because they are afraid of what will be revealed. They don’t want to change. DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED BUT KEEP PRAYING FOR THE POWER OF PRAYER CAN REACH FORTH DRAWING THOSE WHO HAVE PREFERRED THE DARKNESS TO ENCOUNTER HIS LIGHT AND THE BENEFITS OF LIVING IN THE LIGHT OF HIS PRESENCE. John 3:19-21 What are the deeds of darkness that would hinder us from encountering the light? Apathy and denial are partners in holding one captive but in acknowledging our need and turning brings forth the discovery and awareness of His light and the glory of His presence because Jesus has become our focus Luke 11:33-36 The lamp is Christ and the eye represents our spiritual understanding and insight. Evil desires make the eye less sensitive and blot out the light of Christ’s presence. What are you focused on and are there any sinful desires that blind you to the reality of Christ?
