DOCUMENTARY STORYTELLING WORKSHOP with James Whitlow Delano Produced by Ihiro Hayami at the Tokyo Institute of Photography *Held on 4 Saturdays between 17 January 2015 and 21 March 2015* The challenge for every reportage photographer should be to find your own path and develop your own unique way of visual storytelling; in short, to stand apart. In this Documentary Storytelling Workshop, James Whitlow Delano will offer personalized instruction on how to create a project and bring it to fruition. Participants will propose a story idea, go out and photograph it, receive critiques and editing advice individually, and through class discussions. Classes will be held on 4 Saturdays between 17 January 2015 and 21 March 2015 to share their existing work, receive personalize editing advice on the personal project they are photographing, discuss strategies to strengthen that story and James will present documentary storytelling photo stories, and multimedia pieces to stimulate discussions on how to improve participants’ visual communication skills. This way, participants can go back out into the field and act on that personalized instruction.
