DOES ANYONE STRUGGLE WITH PORTION SIZE? Your stomach is a muscle - so it has the ability to stretch and contract. You can train it based on how much you eat. THE BEST PORTION CONTROLLER IS YOUR STOMACHS OWN HUNGER & FULL SIGNALS. It will tell you when its full and when it wants more. You just have to listen. Nutritionists can give you a suggested guide line and measurements for how much to eat but remember that nobody knows your body the way you do! You can train your stomach to adjust to smaller portions. You typically dont need as much food as you think you do. Here are the ways that I exercise portion control without measuring or using food scales. 1. Use small salad plates and not dinner plates when you eat. (Your stomach will adjust to what your eyes see. Trust me, you dont need as much food as you think you do) 2. Take smaller bites and chew slowly. (The more time you spend chewing, the more satiated you feel) 3. OBEY your stomach. When it says its had enough - STOP. 4. Dont bring guilt or any other negative emotions to the table! (Negative feelings will cause you to overeat) 5. When you eat in a restaurant, ask your server to bring your To Go Box at the start of the meal. Before you eat, put 1/2 of your meal in your To Go Box and enjoy the rest! (They serve waaaaay to much food anyways and now you get to enjoy it for lunch the next day!) Happy Eating!
