****DOKI DOKI PRECURE MOVIE SPOILERS READ AT YOUR OWN RISK**** (got off of Tumblr) PRECURE SPOILERS DDPC movie So the movie opens with Mana being called into a room by her parents to see her mother’s wedding dress, which was originally her grandmother’s. Entranced by it, Mana declares that she wants to wear it at her own wedding, of course needing to explain to her shocked parents that this is only when the time comes. As the theme plays we see Mana’s mock wedding with a mystery groom that turns out to be Ira and of course a battle ensues. Soon we are introduced to the villain, who’s name could be spelled Matthew, Marsh, or Mash depending on personal preference. I prefer… to just call him the villain. He sees an old theater being demolished and remarks with disgust how humans will just throw out their things when they get old and forget about them. Meanwhile, Mana and the other girls have a conversation about their past in which Mana mentions her grandmother and her dog Mallow, both she has lost. Gathering up various objects with the magic of his clarinet (including Mana’s grandmother’s dress before she saves it in the nick of time), the villain amasses them into a giant flying whale with video cameras attached which are able to trap everything and everyone into memories of their past. Here they can be preserved forever, eliminating the future from happening. Of course Mana and crew and opposed to this and attempt to fight, but are defeated and forced into movies of their memories of the past as well: Rikka at a piano recital with both of her parents in attendance, Alice on her first outing with her father, Makoto back in the Trump Kingdom with the queen, and finally a 4th grade Mana wakes up in her room to find both her grandmother and her dog, Mallow, alive. Desperate to get back to the present day, Mana goes searching for Rikka and Alice only to find that they don’t exist in this world, and thus she has no leads for how to get back home. But having both her grandmother and her dog with her, she remarks that maybe staying a while wouldn’t be so bad. Warning, here’s where it gets sad. Then one rainy day, Mana comes home to find out her grandmother has fallen and has been taken to the hospital. As she rushes off to see her, Mallow barks and pulls on his chain before Mana disappears down the street. In the hospital, her grandmother is doing alright for the time being, but a worried Mana begs her to stay around to see her eventual wedding. Mana returns home in good spirits… only to see a police car parked outside her house. There has been another tragedy, as it turns out Mallow broke free trying to run after her and was hit by a truck while she had been visiting her grandmother in the hospital. Mana opens the door of her house to see her deceased dog. As Mana cries she suddenly hears the voice of the villain telling her that she should just stay in the past because the future brings pain and, distraught with grief, she agrees. Meanwhile, the other girls have began to sense that there is something wrong with their memories, and in particular Rikka and Alice realize what is going on when they pass each other on a staircase, transform, and beat up some baddies to escape. Although it’s painful knowing her dog has died and her grandmother will also soon “leave her to go to heaven” Mana realizes what she must do and breaks free from her memories as well with the help of her grandmother’s words that they will meet again someday. So the final battle begins and here’s where it gets strange (as if it wasn’t strange already). The villain who’s name could be spelled “Marsh” transforms into a canine creature during the fight, and due to his speech and the collar he is wearing Mana suddenly realizes that he was in fact her dog Mallow all along. (Marsh-Mallow… get it?) She takes the full force of one of his attacks and he bites her shoulder, causing it to bleed. (Have we seen blood in a Precure movie before? It was rather striking.) The girls are momentarily defeated. At some point hurled into the future where they see Mana’s actual wedding (no groom of course, although the character designs of the girls in the future are really nice) and realize all the more that they need to protect the future. I’m terrible and may have messed up the order of events? Anyway, Aguri asks the audience to use their bouquet lights to give the Precures the power they need. Mana is healed and Mallow returns to his former self … except he glows and speaks English now. It turns out the clarinet was the REAL villain all along. …I don’t know… Anyway, Mana goes into Engage Mode, defeats the “sad clarinet” and the spirit of Mallow is guided into heaven by Bebel, a fairy who turned up at the beginning and played a minor roll until now. As they are floating up into the sky, Mana realizes that this fairy was her grandmother all along. ~Admin Crona~
