DONT BE A LAZY CHRISTIAN: Though rest is important and God even insists that we rest, laziness is an entirely other matter. God has nothing good to say about this subject. Laziness represents something more, a lack of goals, and purpose. That you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing. 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 (NKJV) Not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; Romans 12:11 (NKJV) He who tills his land will have plenty of bread, But he who follows frivolity will have poverty enough! Proverbs 28:19 (NKJV) The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich. Proverbs 13:4 (NKJV) He who has a slack hand becomes poor, But the hand of the diligent makes rich. He who gathers in summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame. Proverbs 10:4-5 (NKJV) For fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which was committed to my trust. And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, 1 Timothy 1:10-12 (NKJV) Much food is in the fallow ground of the poor, And for lack of justice there is waste. Proverbs 13:23 (NKJV) Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 2 Timothy 1:6 (NKJV) Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. Ephesians 4:28 (NKJV) I went by the field of the lazy man, And by the vineyard of the man devoid of understanding; And there it was, all overgrown with thorns; Its surface was covered with nettles; Its stone wall was broken down. When I saw it, I considered it well; I looked on it and received instruction: A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest; So shall your poverty come like a prowler, And your need like an armed man. Proverbs 24:30-34 (NKJV) Do not love sleep, lest you come to poverty; Open your eyes, and you will be satisfied with bread. Proverbs 20:13 (NKJV) The way of the lazy man is like a hedge of thorns, But the way of the upright is a highway. Proverbs 15:19 (NKJV) The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, But those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty. Proverbs 21:5 (NKJV) He who tills his land will be satisfied with bread, But he who follows frivolity is devoid of understanding. Proverbs 12:11 (NKJV) Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, And attend to your herds; Proverbs 27:23 (NKJV) You shall have enough goats milk for your food, For the food of your household, And the nourishment of your maidservants. Proverbs 27:27 (NKJV) Here is what I have seen: It is good and fitting for one to eat and drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labor in which he toils under the sun all the days of his life which God gives him; for it is his heritage. As for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, and given him power to eat of it, to receive his heritage and rejoice in his labor--this is the gift of God. Ecclesiastes 5:18-19 (NKJV).
