DONT GO OUTSIDE: Shock Govt warning on killer smog as its air pollution website CRASHES PEOPLE across Britain have been issued with a shock warning to STAY INSIDE today as the worst air pollution in DECADES sweeps across the country. By: Jason Taylor Wed, April 2, 2014 The City of London barely visible this morning through the thick smog[DAN KITWOOD] Anyone in the highest risk areas suffering from sore eyes, coughs and sore throats should reduce their physical activity and head indoors immediately, experts warned. It came as the governments pollution advice website CRASHED for several hours this morning as millions of people rushed online to find out what to do. A deadly smog cloud - which contains some of the worst air pollution seen in Britain for 60 years - is hovering right over the country. This newly released map from Defra shows the areas worst affected [DEFRA] The Department for Food and Rural Affairs has issued the highest possible level 10 warning for parts of the midlands and southern England today. But their pollution forecast website, which includes a postcode tracker for people to check local air quality, crashed early this morning under heavy demand - sparking a furious backlash. London commuter William Burkett, who tried to load the service on his mobile phone at 8am, said: Whats the point of having an air pollution website if the one time you need it, it crashes!? I would never normally look to check the pollution level. But the one time in 20 years I need it, it doesnt work. Why bother? Twitter user Jo Owen added: Just tried to get onto DEFRA website to check current pollution levels, looks like everyone else has the same idea.
