DR. EDGARDO D. GOMEZ, 2014 MOKA FOR SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY, MABALAQUENO. Of the 12 MOKA winners this year, 3 were from Mabalacat. One of them is the esteemed National Scientist, Dr. Edgardo Gomez, professor emeritus at U.P.,honorary professor from the University of Queensland. He acknowledged Mabalacat and Angeles as the places where he grew up. He is recognized in the region as an authoritative voice on tropical marine science and his counsel has been sought by United Nation bodies such as the Global Environment Facility and the World Bank.He is a powerful advocate for marine science in SEA and is called upon to provide advice in the management of coastal resources. Conferred the rank of a National Scientist in 2014 by Pres. Benigno Aquino III.
