DR. JETT DISTINGUISHED FACULTY SPEAKER - 3/4 The GLOBE is hosting Dr. Jett, Professor within the School of International Affairs, to speak to students about US foreign policy and his life as a former US Ambassador of Mozambique and Peru. Prior to being a Penn State Professor, he was a political officer in Argentina, the deputy chief of the US Embassy in Malawi, and a war officer in Liberia during the Liberian Civil War. Furthermore, during his time as a diplomat, Dr. Jett helped promote fair elections in Venezuela and Guatemala, as well as aiding in resolving conflicts between Uganda and Sudan. Due to his excellent work in foreign policy, he has received the State Department’s Distinguished Honor Award and the American Foreign Service Award. Dr. Jett is a renowned speaker and has been interviewed on national television programs such as CNN and NPR. His 2008 book, Why American Foreign Policy Fails: Unsafe at Home and Despised Abroad, has been highly lauded by Dean of the School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton.
