~ DRUM ROLL PLEASE... THE POUNDS FOR POUNDIES TRANSPORTER OF THE YEAR AWARD GOES TO... ~ CHRIS!! Transporters are such a vital part of the story when it comes to saving Poundies lives. They are life-savers, who volunteer their time to collect dogs from the pound, quite often at short notice and just in the nick of time, and transport these wee souls to rescue around the UK. They clock up hundreds of miles, sometimes just in one day; they comfort dogs who are confused and afraid; they clean up after the accidents; and they fall in love a thousand times over. We applaud and thank each and every one of them for being there when the dogs need them and for being the vital link in their journey from the danger and fear of the pound to the safety of rescue and the promise of happy futures. There is one man, however, who we feel goes above and beyond, driving thousands of miles week in and week out to save the lives of Poundies. Chris - who you might remember allowed us to make his van into the Pounds for Poundies Freedom Ride Van - thinks nothing of hopping in his van at 4am to get to the pound at 8am to save a dog from being killed. He thinks nothing of being on the road for 18 hours, and he thinks nothing of getting home at 1am and doing the whole thing again the next day. He does it all simply because he cares so passionately for the dogs who have found themselves abandoned and alone and who so desperately need help. There are many, many dogs living happy lives now who wouldnt be here if it wasnt for Chris, and for that we say thank you, Chris: Transporter of the Year!!
