DSIEC urged to conduct council polls according to rules By John Dugbe Special Correspondent, Ughelli A political pressure group, Delta Monitoring Group, has called on the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, (DSIEC) to abide by all electoral rules and guidelines set out by the Electoral Act in the conduct of the October 25 local government elections in the state. It also urged the commission “to as a matter of urgency and transparency paste voters’ register across all poling units as outlined in the 8th item on the guideline for the election they rolled out.” The group, in a statement by its Convener, Igho Efeurhobo, and Secretary, Omemirhiro Stephen, noted that the voters’ register ought to have been pasted by now. “As you know, this will help to guide against toxic votes across all poling units. This is a local government election and the closest government to the people, therefore the votes of the people must count,” the statement read. While enjoining the commission to toe the path of posterity and set a positive pace to all other electoral bodies across the globe, the group expressed confidence in the ability of the Moses Ogbe-led DSIEC to deliver on the mandate of electoral bodies.
